About The Test House

The Test House (Cambridge) Ltd

The Test House was established in 1990 as a wholly owned trading subsidiary of TWI. It originally provided a mechanical testing service to support and complement TWI’s research activities, but has since established itself as a reputable and competitive metallurgical and mechanical testing laboratory providing a comprehensive range of services and consultancy to a broad spectrum of external clients.

With the experience and knowledge you would expect from a TWI group company, The Test House specialises in weld procedure and welder qualification approvals, offering a ‘one stop’ testing service using in-house NDT, mechanical testing and metallographic facilities.

The Test House has also developed a reputation for providing bespoke ‘one-off’ specialist tests and is supported by its own manufacturing and specialist specimen production facility, with a wealth of experience in jig design and fabrication.

Our metallurgists benefit from extensive industrial experience gained prior to moving into the independent technical support field, equipping them with the depth of knowledge necessary to interpret and express findings as specific industry experts. Our main areas of industrial and operational experience cover a wide portfolio including sectors such as power generation, oil and gas, construction, automotive and marine.

Our extensive experience in consultancy and dispute resolution spans many years and has seen us assist clients from diverse areas including industrial, power generation, naval, construction and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch.

We are committed to ensuring that our clients are provided with the quality of service they expect from a TWI group company and have a wide scope of laboratory testing credentials.
